what's the main difference between an Intel Core i3, i5, i7 and xeon?

Many times we have heared about i3, i5, i7 and even xeon also  but what's the exact difference between them? Is that faster than others ? or what Something else in it? Let's see what exact it is.

Intel Core i3, Core i5, and Core i7 CPUs have been around for over a year now, but some buyers still gets confused whenever they go to buy computer because we are forced to choose any one from four of them. One simple answer for all this is that all we speak Core i7s are better than Core i5s, which are in turn better than Core i3s. All these numbers indicate their relative processing powers and these relative levels of processing power is based on a collection of criteria involving their number of cores, clockspeed (in GHz), size of cache, as well as some new Intel technologies like Turbo Boost and Hyper-Threading.

Following are the different parameters on which processing power relies:

#1. Number of Cores :

The more no.of cores means more tasks (known as threads) can be served at the same time.i3 has 2 cores, i5 has 4 cores, i7 has 8 cores.

#2. Cache Size :

This is one of the important parameter. when the CPU finds that it keeps on using the same data over and over,it stores that data into cache, just like RAM, only faster because it’s built into the CPU itself. Both RAM and cache serve as temporary holding areas for frequently used data. Without them, the CPU would have to keep on reading from the hard disk drive, which would take a lot more time.
If RAM and Cache have same functionality then why they introduced Cache? Answer is - RAM minimises interaction with the hard disk, while cache minimises interaction with the RAM. Obviously, with a larger cache, more data can be accessed quickly.
All Core i3 processors have 3MB of cache. All Core i5s, except again for the 661 (only 4MB), have 6MB of cache. Finally, all Core i7 CPUs have 8MB of cache.

#3. Intel Turbo Boost:

The Intel Turbo Boost Technology allows a processor to dynamically increase its clockspeed whenever the need arises. The maximum amount that Turbo Boost can raise clockspeed at any given time is dependent on the number of active cores, the estimated current consumption, the estimated power consumption, and the processor temperature.
None of i3 processor has turbo boost technology while i5 onwards has this technology - Turbo Boost 2.0

#4.Hyper Threading Technology:

Intel has introduced a technology called Hyper-Threading. This enables a single core to serve multiple threads. For instance a Core i3, which is only a dual core, can actually serve two threads per core. In other words, a total of four threads can run simultaneously. Thus, even if Core i5 processors are quad cores, since they don’t support Hyper-Threading (again, except the i5-661) the number of threads they can serve at the same time is just about equal to those of their Core i3 counterparts. Core i7 processors are quad cores, have support to Hyper-Threading. Thus, a total of eight threads can run on them at the same time. Combine that with 8MB of cache and Intel Turbo Boost Technology.

Finally I would say If you use your PC to check emails, do some banking, read the news, and download a bit of music then go for i3. If you want to use some heavy software's then go for  i3 or i7. If you have to built server then go for xeon processor, they are specially made for high processing.

Intel's Edison is an SD card-sized computer

SD card Sized computer.- Sounds tricky isn't?  But it's true. Intel's CEO, Brian Krzanich announced they are going to launch sd card sized computer by the end of this year called Edison Chip and it's small as regular sd card. It is basically built for wearable computing.  Wearable Computing ???  The term refers that it is a digital device that is strapped to or carried on a user's body. This type of computer is used most often in research that focuses on behavioral modeling, health monitoring systems, IT and media development, where the person wearing the computer may be moving or otherwise engaged with his environment.

This mini computer is built on Intel’s 22nm transistor technology and comes with built in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth modules. Edison runs on Linux.

More interestingly, Edison will have its own App Store and aims to provide a platform to developers who wish to build apps for wearables in the future.

For e.g Edison, embedded on to the child’s clothes or toys, will inform the parent of the baby’s vital statistics like temperature, heart rate etc. This information will be displayed on an LED coffee mug or any object. More Clearly, When the baby is comfortable, the mug would display blinking green lights with a happy face and when the baby is uncomfortable, the face would turn red. Another application is Edison switching a bottle warmer on even as it recognizes that the baby is about to wake up, so you have a bottle ready in time for it.

Intel is taking the quest to find good wearable tech to the next level by offering prizes up to $1.3 million to developers. and this will be available for developers this summer.

After all this One question will definitely come into your mind. What's the price ?  Ummm.....Actually they have not disclosed pricing yet.

Most of the newbies in the world of blogging are struggling with their blog's look and design and off-course Icons plays vital role in designing of blog or website.Actually this is not restricted to blog or website instead it can be application / software and E-commerce system.

I'm going to share review of Icon Lover through which you can create your own icons.

Icon Lover is a powerful and  easy to use icon editor for making your own icons for any operating system, including Windows, Linux, Mac OS, Android and iOS. It creates native Windows icons (ICO format) of all sizes, up to 256x256 used in Windows 8 and Windows 7, and native MacOS icons (ICNS format) up to 1024x1024 pixels UNIX/Linux, Android and iOS use icons in PNG format which is fully supported by IconLover - you can create icons in this format from scratch or convert the existing Windows and Mac OS icons to PNG.

Numerous advanced features including support for variable transparency, built-in drop shadow, smoothing, roll, mirror and other effects, support for multi-layer images, ability to import and export a variety of image formats and batch processing of icons make
Icon Lover the tool of choice for many professional icon designers.

Here is the List of features which I like Most :

1. Import Vector Images

Icon Lover allows importing vector images in SVG, AI and PDF formats. You can automatically render these vector images into raster icons of any size.

2. Export Icon to Bitmap Images

Next Generation Cellphones

Now say bye to upgrade your old cell phones every time new technology and specification are invented . As soon as a new device comes out, the old one is tossed in the garbage or put on the shelf to collect dust. But the Dutch inventor wants to change that with a meccano-like  device in which parts of the phone, and not the entire device needs to be replaced.

"Every time We got a new phone We threw away so many good components like Camera, Bluetooth, speakers, displays. We've thrown out over the years just because one other component is broken," "This feels like a real waste!"

So, Hakkens introduced his design for Phonebloks, a smartphone that has detachable components on its front and back so that everything from the processor to the camera can be easily upgraded without discarding the rest of the phone. So you could keep the good parts and replace the bad ones.

The phone can be customized to your personal preferences. If you take a lot of pictures, pop in high-resolution camera. If you need a lot of storage for music, get a larger storage block. The hardware would be built on an open platform, so anyone can create their own blocks. You Just need to choose right according to your need.

There would be one block for the camera lens, one for the battery, one for storage and so on. Those blocks would plug into the base, and the blocks, base and screen would be secured together with two screws. Because individual blocks can be replaced when they become outdated or simply break, Hakkens thinks electronic waste can be drastically reduced with such a phone.

So, In upcoming years you will get fully assembled Mobile phones. which you wont regret buying even for good price........
